Isabel Teixeira was born in 1997 in São Miguel island, Azores. She graduated in Biology, with specialization in the branch of Cell Biology and Biotechnology,  at Faculdade de Ciências from Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL) in 2018. After graduation, she had the opportunity to perform an internship at Plant Biotechnology Laboratory from Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier (ITQB).

Jessica Machado graduated in Biochemistry (2014) at School of Sciences and Technology – Lisbon Nova University (FCT-UNL) and obtained her master’s degree in biotechnology by Instituto Superior Técnico (2016). Since then, she worked in the area of microfluidics. At the moment, she is involved in the Des.solve project, mainly in the study of the antioxidant activity´s stabilization by DES and NADES.

Liliana Rodrigues is a PhD student in Sustainable Chemistry at the Nutraceuticals and Bioactives Process Technology Lab of iBET (Food and Health Division), and holds a master degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia – Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (2014).

Lucca Durazzo graduated from Swansea University in 2017 with a master’s degree in chemical engineering. Throughout the studies, the bachelor´s dissertation was related to the design of a chemical plant intending to produce 100,000 tonnes of ammonia per annum as part of a group of 5 peers.

Maria Miguel Castro graduated in Biochemistry from University of Évora (2014), and obtained her Msc degree in Biochemistry (2016) from University of Porto/Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS). On the first year of MSc degree, she participated in extracurricular internship integrated in the project about the influence of glycation in iron-binding to blood plasma proteins.

Sara Valente was born in 1996 in Switzerland. She graduated in Biochemistry from the NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA) in 2019. During the last semester of her degree, she had the opportunity to do her final project which was related to the development of chitosan-based films incorporated with zinc oxide nanoparticles as packaging for poultry meat.

Sílvia Rebocho finished her PhD degree at FCT-UNL in 2015 on Sustainable Chemistry. During her PhD project, entitled “Biotransformation/separation routes to obtain pure enantiomers", she worked on the implementation of a new methodology for the separation of enantiomers of secondary alcohols, combining two sustainable technologies – enzymes and supercritical technology using green/natural solvents.

Tânia Neto was born in Porto in 1995 and obtained her MSc degree in Molecular Biotechnology (Bioengineering) at School of Engineering from University of Porto (2018). During her degree, she had the opportunity to go on Erasmus+ and work for six months at University Medical Center of Groningen, where she studied the effects of nanostructured hydrogels and the effect of their stiffness on macrophages.
