Maria Miguel Castro graduated in Biochemistry from University of Évora (2014), and obtained her Msc degree in Biochemistry (2016) from University of Porto/Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS). On the first year of MSc degree, she participated in extracurricular internship integrated in the project about the influence of glycation in iron-binding to blood plasma proteins. Her MSc dissertation was performed at UCBIO/REQUIMTE in Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto, entitled “Determination of macrophages activation profile and T cell populations in the context of congenital toxoplasmosis”. She was a research fellow in two different projects at CEBAL bioactive compounds research group (2017-2019). In the present, she is part of Des.solve group, where she is working with the in vitro assessment cytotoxicity and antiproliferative effects of THEDES. MM Castro has published 1 paper in a peer-reviewed international journal and presented 8 oral and 12 poster communication in national and international conferences. Her research interest includes cell culture, cancer cells, pharmacology, bioactive compounds and drug discovery.
