Sara Valente was born in 1996 in Switzerland. She graduated in Biochemistry from the NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA) in 2019. During the last semester of her degree, she had the opportunity to do her final project which was related to the development of chitosan-based films incorporated with zinc oxide nanoparticles as packaging for poultry meat. During her degree, she also worked on the Synthesis and characterization of MOFs (Metal Organic Frameworks), having worked with experimental techniques such as liquid and solid nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. Currently, she is finishing is Master degree in Biotechnology at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia – Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and she is part of Des.solve group, where she is working with Deep Eutectic Systems to increase the bioavailability of bioactive compounds produced by marine actinobacteria.
