x Tânia Neto - ALUMNI

Research Fellow

Tânia Neto was born in Porto in 1995 and obtained her MSc degree in Molecular Biotechnology (Bioengineering) at School of Engineering from University of Porto (2018). During her degree, she had the opportunity to go on Erasmus+ and work for six months at University Medical Center of Groningen, where she studied the effects of nanostructured hydrogels and the effect of their stiffness on macrophages. During her master thesis, at i3S, she had the opportunity to develop an injectable self-assembled bioactive hybrid hydrogel, in order to assess its ability to differentiate neural stem cells. Simultaneously, she worked with fibrin hydrogels and, from that work, her first article was published. After finishing her studies, she worked with subcritical water extraction and different macroalgae, and studied the characteristics of seaweeds. Currently, she is part of Des.solve group, where she is working with deep eutectic solvents and how to perform esterification on a continuous mode.
