Lucca Durazzo graduated from Swansea University in 2017 with a master’s degree in chemical engineering. Throughout the studies, the bachelor´s dissertation was related to the design of a chemical plant intending to produce 100,000 tonnes of ammonia per annum as part of a group of 5 peers. The master´s dissertation was entitled “Production of a novel pesticide, N-(2-(2,4 Dichlorophenoxy)phenyl)-2-Chlorobenzamide”, where more research was necessary to complete the design and simulation of the chemical plant using the simulation package UNISIM. The association with Tata Steel limited occurred during the master´s year, where on a bi-weekly basis, Lucca would travel to the site to learn from engineers and researchers focused on the metallurgic sector. Currently, he is working with NADES, as part of a transesterification reaction in the presence of an enzyme. Various immobilization methods on the enzyme will be carried out to maximize the reutilization.
