Vishal Bharti has received his B.Sc. (2006) and M.Sc. (2008) degrees in Electronics from University of Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India. He obtained his Ph.D. degrees from the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) at CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, India in 2017 under the direction of Senior Scientist Dr. Vinay Gupta and Emeritus Scientist Dr. Suresh Chand. His doctoral dissertation entitled “EFFICIENT TERNARY BLEND BULK-HETEROJUNCTION ORGANIC SOLAR CELLS WITH FÖRSTER RESONANCE ENERGY TRANSFER” was focused on the dual donor based ternary blend Bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) polymer solar cells (PSCs). He has firstly reported the mechanism of Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) in dual donor ternary blend system, which is responsible for efficiency enhancement in ternary blend BHJ-PSCs and published his results in highly reputed journal Advanced Materials and Applied Physics Letters.


He is a recipient of the SERB-National Postdoctoral Fellowship in Physical Sciences (2017), Indo-Us Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy (BASE) Fellowship (2014), UGC-Junior Research and Senior Research Fellowship (2010) and Gold Medalist in Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Electronics (2008). 

Vishal Bharti is currently employed as post doctoral researcher on a project” CapTherPV project funded by the European Research council (ERC). In the past he has worked with Professor Seung woo Lee on “DNA nanotechnology for Photovoltaics” at Sungkyunkwan (SKKU) University, Seoul. He has also worked as National Postdoctoral fellow with Professor Viresh Dutta at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi on “fabrication and optimization of organic/perovskite tandem solar cell”.

 

Vishal, research interest includes development of thin film photovoltaics based on low cost energy efficient materials, Device physics (Charge generation, charge recombination, Energy transfer/ charge transfer) of solar cell and photophysics of solar cell materials  using Ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy, time resolved and steady state PL and UV-visible spectroscopy.
