Ana Baptista

Junior Researcher

CENIMAT/I3N, Departamento de Ciência dos Materiais, Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia (FCT/UNL), Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Campus da Caparica, Portugal

PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (FCT/UNL, 2014); MSc. in Biotechnology (FCT/UNL, 2009); BSc. in Applied Chemistry (FCT/UNL, 2007).

 Ana is currently a junior researcher working on fibres functionalization for innovative smart textiles systems for energy and medical applications such as:

- Fully organic batteries based on electrospun fibres that are activated by biological fluids;

- Electrically controlled drug delivery systems using the electrospinning technique;

- A glucose-sensitive membrane able to electrically detect variations on glucose concentrations in body fluids;

- Luminescent and photosensitive membranes for photocurrent therapy, which combines phototherapy and electrotherapy.

Besides these topics of investigation, Ana has participated in several national and international projects related with energy generation systems, paper functionalization (with Navigator company) and 3D printing of ceramic-based medical implants (with InnovNano company).
