Usually the candidates that apply to the PhD programme have diploma backgrounds in Engineering, Natural (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Social Sciences (Sociology, Economics, Political Sciences among others) or similar. The applicant students can have also a pre-Bologna diploma in those knowledge fields with credits equal or higher than 240 and a minimum final classification of 14/20 (for the Portuguese case).
They can instead have a terciary education level diploma, obtained in a national or foreign institution, recognised as appropriated by the Programme' Scientific Board.
Finally, the candidate must present a professional or scientific curriculum recognised as relevant and appropriated by the Programme Scientific Board.
