Baumann coordinates a sub-program of EERA

Dr. Manuel Baumann holds a PhD on Technology Assessment at Uni Nova Lisbon and is researcher at ITAS Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, and also at the Observatory of Technology Assessment of CICS.NOVA. He was appointed as coordinator of the Sub-programme 6 on Energy Storage: Techno-Economics and Sustainability of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA). The EERA was founded in 2011 and involves the most relevant energy research institution.

Project AddTech

The AddTech project is a collaboration between CATIM, CICS.NOVA and FCT NOVA to support the empirical study for the PhD research of Nuno Carvalho Araújo. It is a project on technology assessment of additive manufacturing in the metal sector in Portugal. It runs at the Observatory of Technology Assessment of CICS.NOVA

Project PRISMA RRI

PRISMA is an EC project that aims to help companies to better integrate Responsible innovation in their innovation process and business practices.

A project that involves the collaboration of the PhD student Maria João Maia included in the KIT team.

Sessão de lançamento do projeto InovKnow3D

No próximo dia 27 de fevereiro terá lugar nas instalações do CATIM em Lisboa (Estrada do Paço do Lumiar, 22 - Campus do Lumiar, Edifício Q), a Sessão de Lançamento do Projeto InovKnow3D.

O Projeto InovKnow3D visa transferir conhecimento científico e tecnológico associado à tecnologia de Manufatura Aditiva, fomentando a incorporação da mesma no processo produtivo da indústria.

OAT is now member of ETAG

The Observatory of Technology Assessment, unit of the research centre CICS.NOVA, is now member of the European Technology Assessment Group (ETAG).

Since October 2005 a group of European scientific institutes - with the Institute of Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany as the leading partner - has been providing scientific services for the European Parliament on social, environmental and economic aspects of new technological and scientific developments.

Curricular structure (published at DR 2.ª série, N.º 2, 3/1/2018)

It was published on the "Diário da República" the changes to the PhD programme curricular structure. These changes were approved by the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (University NOVA Lisbon) in December 2016. They were later registered at the Directorate-General of Higher Education in July 2017 ("As alterações ao ciclo de estudos foram objeto de registo na Direção-Geral do Ensino Superior com o número R/A -Ef 3062/2011/AL01 de 6 de julho de 2017").

Thesis of Manuel Baumann (KIT) defended

Manuel Baumann was our student since 2013 and recently defended his thesis on "Battery storage systems as balancing option in intermittent renewable energy systems - A transdisciplinary approach under the frame of Constructive Technology Assessment" with a very high success. The thesis was supervised by Dr.-Ing. Marcel Weil (KIT) and the main examiners were Prof. Dr. Manuel Costa Matos (University of Porto) and Prof. Dr. Guy Fournier (Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences). The other members of the jury were Prof. Dr. Manuel Laranja (University of Lisbon) Prof. Dr.

Lecture series (2-4 May, 2018)

Prof. António B. Moniz will provide a series of lectures at University NOVA Lisbon for the PhD programme on Technology Assessment about the topic "Work and Technology under the Industry 4.0 debate".

The lectures will take place at Caparica Campus from 2 to 4 May. Registrations can be made at abm@fct.unl.pt

8th Winter School on Technology Assessment

The 8th Winter School on Technology Assessment will take place next Tuesday at CICS.NOVA (Edificio ID, Av. Berna 26C, Lisbon).

7th Doctoral Conference on TA

The 7th Doctoral Conference on Technology will be held on the June 30st, 2017. Confirmed is the participation of the MEP Carlos Coelho that will talk about the Portuguese participation on TA initiatives. MEP Coelho is Panel Member of STOA.
