Conservator - restaurator of graphic documents, with c.30 years of experience on conservation management and leading conservation teams in highly demanding institutions, including direction positions of conservation-restoration departments at National Library of Portugal, the Portuguese National Archives- Torre do Tombo and the Tropical Research Institute; and coordinator of several funded research projects, supported by the Science and Technology Foundation in Portugal and the European Commission / Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and other private organisations. She got several grants and a Public National Award, as conservation manager director at Portuguese National Archives and wins the National Student Bookbinding Competition– Preservation Category from the English Secretary of State for Education and Science. Casanova have a PhD in Conservation-Restoration at FCT NOVA (Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia / Universidade Nova de Lisboa) a postgraduate course in Conservation Studies from Camberwell College of Arts at London University and a degree in History, Art and Archaeology by the Humanities Faculty of Oporto University (Faculdade de Letras / Universidade do Porto). Currently she is full time teacher at the Conservation Restoration Department (DCR) of FCT NOVA, member of the executive comity of DCR, coordinator of the scientific commission of the Conservation-Restoration Degree and vice-president of the Conservation-Restoration PhD Programme-CORES at DCR; and research member of the Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry /LAQV – Requimte and invited researcher at Institute for Medieval Studies.
