Fernando Pina got a PhD in Chemical Engineering in 1983 from the Technical University of Lisbon, IST, Post-Doc with Vincenzo Balzani, Bologna, Italy, and is full Professor of Chemistry at the New University of Lisbon. He was the first president of the Conservation and Restoration Department at the New University of Lisbon, general secretary of the Portuguese Chemical Society (2004-2006). He got the Gulbenkian science prize" Ciências Aplicadas e Tecnologias" 1998; Prize “Estímulo à Excelência,” by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, 2004; Prize Ferreira da Silva, Portuguese Chemical Society, 2010, a career prize attributed each two years. He is honorary member of the Portuguese Chemical Society. His scientific interests are broad, from chromogenic materials, to photochemistry and photophysics of molecules and materials. He has been working for more than 15 years in the Physical Chemistry of Anthocyanins and related compounds. He is author of more than 250 papers (Scopus) and 11 book chapters with 5600 citations, H-index 42 (July 2019).
