Adelaide Clemente is a Pos-Doc Researcher at cE3c - Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes (cE3c), Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa. Her PhD in Ecology and Biosystematics (2003) addressed plant regeneration and succession after fire in Mediterranean ecosystems. After her PhD, she collaborated in European projects aiming the conservation and management of natural habitats and plant species protected under the Habitats Directive, and in ecological restoration of degraded areas. From 2007 to 2015, she was the Seed Curator at Banco de Sementes A.L. Belo Correia, Jardim Botânico, Museu de História Natural e da Ciência, becaming an expert in seed conservation and seed ecology. During this period, she collaborated with Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e das Florestas (ICNF) in launching the ex situ conservation of Portuguese endangered species program to meet the objectives of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation. Currently, she implements the Millennium Seed Bank Partnership (Millennium Seed Bank, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) in Portugal, which aims to store seeds from 25% of the world’s plants by 2020. She is a data contributor to the Flora-on website (http://flora-on.pt) and member of the Scientific Committee of the Vascular Plant Red List for continental Portugal and of the Portuguese Botanical Society.
