The Project MAGICA (Magic Lantern – Study, Safeguard, Uses and Reuses in 19_th-Century Portugal) won with the maximum grade the financial support of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT-MCTES) (Project Reference: PTDC/ART-PER/1702/2021).

Portugal has submitted an application to an Instruct call to constitute Research Sites in those country members that do not yet have an Instruct Centre.

It is my great pleasure to announce that this application was recently approved by the Executive Committee and will have two nodes, one in FT-ICR in Structural Mass Spectrometry coordinated by Carlos Cordeiro, Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa and the other at ITQB NOVA coordinated by Margarida Archer, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

Last week Prof.Cecília Roque gave a talk at the Global Machine Olfaction Technologies conference OSMOCOSM (https://www.osmocosm.org/).

Project Se(L)ect(i)vity is focused on development of an electro-membrane process to recover lithium from saline streams. The main objective is to develop lithium selective membranes and to integrate them into a single flow capacitive deionization (FCDI) device. The main objective of this fellowship will be to develop/manufacture different membranes by using a 3D printer.

Inês holds a Bachelor degree in Biochemistry and just started her final master thesis in  Biotechnology, both from FCT-NOVA. At our lab, she will be working on the Non-invasive and fast identification of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria within our #SCENT_project.

We wish that she achieves her personal goals and hope that this experience will be worthy for her future!
