Nos próximos dias 19 e 20 de abril terá lugar a 8ª Conferência Doutoral em Avaliação de Tecnologia. Nesta conferência serão apresentadas duas key-notes: uma pela Profª Elvira Fortunato, do Departamento de Ciências dos Materiais da FCT Nova, sobre os Desafios atuais da nanotecnologia (dia 19), e outra do Prof. Hannot Rodríguez, da Universidade do País Basco, sobre "New developments in responsible innovation: RRI, openness and anticipation".
As bolsas de pós-graduação destinam-se a apoiar anualmente a formação académica em Portugal de nacionais dos Países Africanos de Língua Oficial Portuguesa e de Timor-Leste, que exerçam atividade profissional nesses países e que pretendam prosseguir, atualizar e especializar os seus conhecimentos.
Between 17th-19th of March Emi Ramou took part in the 47th German Liquid Crystal Conference with a short talk and a poster presentation entitled "Using Cyanobiphenyl-based Liquid Crystal Droplets to Detect Volatile Gases". This work is included in the #SCENT_project and funded by the European Research Council.
Welcome to the group, Arianna! Arianna is an Erasmus student from the Unimore - Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia, Italy. She has a Bachelor degree in Biotechnology and is currently finishing her Master's in Industrial Biotechnology. Arianna will be working in the #PURE_project, in "Marine protein engineering for the production of novel biomaterials". Good luck!

On the 2nd edition of PEPPERSchool, our PhD students Inês Padrão and Carlos Costa won the Young Researcher contest! Iana Lychko, Henrique Costa and also Inês Padrão won PhD grants for attendance, financed by GFPP (Groupe Français des Peptides et des Protéines) and IM2B (Institute of Microbiology, Bioenergies and Biotechnology) from Aix-Marseille University. Congratulations!
Reza Haghbakhsh and Ana Rita C. Duarte from the DES Solve Research Group, LAQV, NOVA-ST, Portugal in collaboration with Sona Raeissi from Shiraz University, Iran have just published in the prestigious journal Scientific Reports, from Nature Publishing Group, a new manuscript on:
André Cecílio presented his thesis on 8/02/2021 to obtain the MSc. degree in Materials Science Engineering. His dissertation was entitled Design of Chitin/Chitosan-based material for CO2 capture. Congratulations André!
Already in 2021, we had the pleasure to welcome Rita Alves and Carlos Costa as new members of the group! Rita is a Master student in Biomedical Engineering at Nova School of Science and Technology / FCT NOVA and will be working in the #SCENT_project, and Carlos a PhD Student in Biotechnology that joined the #PURE_project. On the 11th of February, Prof Cecília Roque participated in the virtual edition of BIOSTEC 2021, the 14th International Conference on Biomedical Electronics and Devices where she presented our work about "Fish Gelatin-based Films for Gas Sensing " and that was distinguished with the Best Paper Award.
