Ana Matias is Auxiliary Researcher at IBET (iFCT 2014) and she has expertise in separation/fractionation green processes to isolate bioactive compounds from natural sources for the development of improved natural bio-products with health-promoting properties. She holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering (field of Food Technology, 2008), co-funded by an agrifood industrial partner, involving the development of functional bio-products recovered from olive oil by-products and wastes. She participated in 9 national and international research projects and currently she is team member of an FP7-KBBE Project – BacHBerry and a Marie Curie IAPP Action- WineSense being a Marie Curie Fellow (Experienced Researcher) from the later. Currently she is a management committee Member of TD1203 COST Action - Food Waste Valorisation for Sustainable Chemicals, Materials and Fuels (EUBis). Part of her activity is dedicated to industry-funded projects being responsible for project management and technology transfer. Ana has an H-index of 9 and 317 citations being author of 22 publications in International peer-reviewed journals on the top 25% of the IF distributed for subjects: Chemical, Food Science and Technology, Materials. She is also author of 1 International Patent and 1 national patent (submitted), 2 book chapters, 14 papers in conference proceedings and more than 55 posters in scientific meetings.
