João Lourenço graduated in Biochemistry, from NOVA School of Science and Technology, in 2019. Prior to his admittance in the Biochemistry course, João has worked as a laboratory technician, conducting chemical and biological analyses aimed at the environmental area and quality control of industrial products. During his bachelor’s degree project in Biochemistry, João has worked with Fluorinated Ionic Liquids, intending to evaluate the application of these compounds as safe drug delivery systems for therapeutic proteins, at the LAQV REQUIMTE laboratory. Currently, he is enrolled in the Biotechnology master at NOVA School of Science and Technology, and is developing his dissertation project within the DES.solve group. This project aims to design and characterize gels and biofilms based on natural polymers, using deep eutectic systems, envisaging its application as a transdermal drug delivery method.
