Encontro Ciência2022

Today we are at Encontro Ciência! If you are curious about e-nose devices and how they work visit our demonstration at Centro de Congressos de Lisboa. We will show some recent developments in our #SCENT_project financed by European Research Council. Moreover, Cecília Roque will take part in the session "Os investigadotes no Horizonte Europa".

EXPO FCT-NOVA 2022

In this year's edition of the #expofct at FCT-NOVA, we explained our projects. Students were able to see the work of the e-nose device from the #SCENT_project and its application for disease detection from the #AccuseD_project. And learning more about the importance of the efficient bioseparation of biopharmaceutical drugs, which is the aim of the #PURE_project. Moreover, we showed the versatility of proteins' application in sensing and production of the smart bio-based materials, which is the main objective of the #Sea2See_project.

Biophysics Festival - 03 June 2022

The Portuguese Young Biophysicists has the pleasure to invite the scientific community to the 2nd Meeting of Young Biophysicists, the “Biophysics Festival”, that will be held in Universidade de Aveiro on 3rd June 2022.

Congradulations to Rita!

On February 18th our master student Rita Alves successfully defended her thesis as a part of her Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering at NOVA School of Science and Technology.  Her work was entitled "Time series analysis and machine learning algorithms for an e-nose sensor", developed under the supervision of Dr. Susana Palma and Prof. Hugo Gamboa. Congratulations Rita and we wish you all the best!

Congratulations to Joana Calvário!

We are very happy to share that we have a new Master!

Last week, Joana Calvário successfully defended her Master thesis entitled "Production and characterization of Odorant Binding Proteins", work supervised by Prof. Cecília Roque and Dr. Arménio Barbosa. Congratulations to Joana, we wish you all the best!

Biodevices 2022

Last week our PhD student Rita Oliveira presented her work, developed under the scope of the #SCENT_project, at the annual BIODEVICES2022 conference.

ERC PoC Grant - #ENSURE_project

We are very happy to announce that our team was awarded the prestigious

Congratulations, Dr. Manuel Matos!

Many congratulations to Dr. Manuel Matos, who successfully defended his PhD thesis "Artificial scaffolds for affinity-triggered bioseparations".

Tackling Humidity with Designer Ionic Liquid-Based Gas Sensing Soft Materials

One of our latest works regarding "Tackling Humidity with Designer Ionic Liquid-Based Gas Sensing Soft Materials" from the

New publication is out: Nanoscale Events on Cyanobiphenyl-Based Self-Assembled Droplets Triggered by Gas Analytes

Check out our latest publications! In this paper, the authors showed how the dynamic self-assembly features of the Liquid Crystal droplets and corresponding optical changes upon gas exposure ensured efficient discrimination and classification of the tested gas analytes.

Great news to start 2022! Congratulations to the authors of this work! You can access the artice here: https://bit.ly/3zqo5X9

New publication available

One of our latest publications is now available!
In this paper, Ana Pina and colleagues discuss the discovery of phosphotyrosine-binding oligopeptides with supramolecular target selectivity through biopanning strategy.

This work was done in collaboration with the Rein Ulijn Group from Advanced Science Research Center, GC/CUNY.

Visit from Prof. Alois Jungbauer

Last week we had the pleasure to host Prof. Alois Jungbauer from BOKU - Universität für Bodenkultur Wien and Head of Institute of Bioprocess Science and Engineering.

New publication "Discovery of phosphotyrosine-binding oligopeptides with supramolecular target selectivity"

We are very happy to announce one of our latest publications! In this paper, Ana Pina and colleagues discuss the discovery of phosphotyrosine-binding oligopeptides with supramolecular target selectivity through biopanning strategy. This work was done in collaboration with the Ulijn Group from Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) at CUNY, New York. Congratulations to the authors for this amazing work!

ISPPP Flash Presentation Award

Congratulations to Dr. Arménio Barbosa for winning the Flash Presentation Award from ISPPP 2021 with his work on "Molecular modeling on the discovery of synthetic affinity-adsorbents"! Prof. Cecília Roque also took part in the symposium with the talk "Affinity magnetic precipitation for antibody purification".

About me

I am looking forward to start my MSc project at PURE project in collaboration with the Biomolecular Engineering lab, because it will give me the chance to learn how research is developed and to work with a group composed of people form diferente areas and background. Furthemore, my main interest is to study this technology from a marketing and a scientific prespective.
