Multi Parametric Surface Plasmon Resonance

Traditional surface plasmon resonance is an optical technique established as a powerful method to monitor label-free biomolecular interactions in liquids.

At BioLab the Bionavis SPR Navi 200 is available as an improved and versatile system, that uses an increased angular scan range to produce a complete SPR curve (multi-parametric SPR) enabling new insights into interactions. This increased angular range also allows the characterization of the interactions of surfaces with analytes, with molecular weights ranging from a few Da to several KDa, in the gas or liquid phases.

MP-SPR has multiple applications both in Life Sciences and Material Sciences.  It allows the accurate measurement of molecular interactions (e.g. kinetic and affinity constants) and determination of layer properties (e.g. refractive index, thickness) with the help of the softwares TraceDrawer and LayerSolver, respectively.

Application examples:

  • Molecular interactions (Kinetics (kon, koff); Affinity (KD); Concentration (c); Adsorption/Absorption;  Desorption; Adhesion; Electrochemistry (E,I, omega))
  • Layer properties (Refractive index (n), Thickness (d); Extinction coefficient (k); Density (ρ); Surface coverage (Γ); Swelling (Δd); Optical dispersion (n((λ)))
