Filipa Amorim is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia at NOVA University.
Her present research work is focused on the project CLIM2POWER - Translating climate data into power plants operational guidance (2017-2020). The project will develop a web-based seasonal climate service and will assess the impact of this seasonal climate on the operation of renewables electric power plants (hydro, wind and solar), on electricity demand and on the whole electricity system.
Filipa has 10 years of research experience in electricity markets, in regulatory issues and in techno-economic modelling tools and has participated in national and international research projects with utilities, government bodies and universities. Also, she has several years of experience in project management.
She has held previous research positions, from 2017 to 2018, at the Smart City Innovation Lab at Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics (SCIL/CLSB); from 2008 to 2016, at the Centre for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research University of Lisbon (IN+/IST) and, from 2003 to 2008, at the Regional and Urban Studies Institute University of Coimbra (IERU/UC). She has co-authored several peer-reviewed international publications and presented her work in international invited seminars and conferences.
Filipa holds a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems from IST and ISEG University of Lisbon under MIT Portugal Program, a Post-Graduate Degree in Communication and Image from IADE School of Creativity and a Graduate Degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics University of Coimbra.
