Of pigments and toxins: an integrative approach to the biotechnological potential of a marine polychaete
Welcome to Project GreenTech. Funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (Ref. PTDC/MAR-BIO/0113/2014), GreenTech is a multidisciplinary research project designed to explore new bioproducts from the marine annelid Eulalia viridis. Besides investigating potential applications of toxin secretions and pigments in biotechnological and biomedical industry, GreenTech also aims at showing that the preservation of biodiversity means wealth and development, particularly in such rich areas like the Portuguese coast. The project is active from 2016 through 2019.

The project is a collaborative effort between three reserch centres with poles located at FCT-UNL: UCIBIO, LAQV, MARE plus CiiEM in Egas Moniz Medical Science School (CESEM). The project involves over a dozen active researchers with various expertise: from chemistry and marine biology to drug development, toxicology and environmental engineering.
