Mário Bandiera graduated at University of Parma in Sciences for conservation and restoration. My bachelor’s degree was focused on the Characterization of the organic binder of the altarpiece of St. Peter’s cathedral in Geneva, painted by K. Witz in 1444 (201). The master’s degree aimed to mineralogical characterization of mortars from the ex-furnace of Ghiare di Berceto, project in the field of industrial archaeology (2015). At LAMA Laboratory at the IUAV University, Venice (Italy) I was devoted to petrographic analysis with the supervision of Prof. Antonelli and Prof. Lazzarini. Analysis of ancient glass by handheld X-ray fluorescence, at the Glass Museum of Murano, was performed with the supervision of Prof. Verità.

My research aims to shed light on the production technology used to produce Roman opaque red glass, which includes the discovering the raw materials, the location of production furnaces,  consulting ancient glassmaking manuscripts and laboratory reproduction of opaque red glass trough the ancient technique.
