Restoration

Providing research opportunities in the field of conservation of cultural heritage to young and experienced conservators with a strong scientific background is the main goal of this PhD area of restoration-conservation.

There is an international requirement for better understanding of mechanisms and causes of deterioration, for a better selection of conservation materials, methods and strategies, as well as for the appreciation of complex issues related with conservation criteria and the comprehension of the significance, use and access of cultural heritage. In that context, this doctoral study in conservation strives to meet the cultural heritage institution’s needs.
