Michael Decker new Head of Division at KIT

ITAS Director and PhD theses supervisor at FCT-UNL took over leading position at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. The Professor of Technology Assessment wants to keep close contact with the Institute and the scientific TA community.

Since 1 October 2015 Michael Decker is the new Head of Division II at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Nominated by the KIT Presidential Committee and unanimously elected by the division council, Decker will be responsible for research, teaching, and innovation in the division of "Informatics, Economics, and Society" during the next five years. During this period, his appointment at ITAS, which he directed together with Armin Grunwald, is suspended.

"I am looking forward to this big challenge which lies ahead. At the same time I will still feel strongly connected to ITAS and technology assessment and will continue an intense scientific exchange with the colleagues there," says Michael Decker who came to ITAS in 2003 and became Deputy Head in the following year.

Armin Grunwald, who will now be the single Head of the Institute again, underlines the great loss for ITAS, but can still see some positive aspects: "The appointment of Michael Decker to such a prominent leading position at KIT honors his great contributions at ITAS and is an evidence for the growing visibility of our institute within and outside KIT."
