InBloom Hands-on Workshop at ISMC
As part of the International Symposium on Museology and Conservation – Between Exhibition Gallery and Storage: Redesigning Museum Conservation Practices, participants had the opportunity to attend the InBloom Hands-on Workshop, which took place at MUDE on 24 July, from 16:30 to 17:30.
Organised within the InBloom research project, this workshop addressed the conservation of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)-coated fabrics in fashion and design collections. Through real case studies, it focused on the phenomenon of blooming—a degradation phenomenon visible as whitish surface deposits—offering participants the opportunity to engage in practical exercises involving sampling, examination, observation, and interpretation.
