Marta Candeias

PhD on TA / CICS.NOVA, IST-ID

Marta Candeias is a Research Funding Advisor at School of Engineering, Architecture, Science and Technology (Tecnico) of Lisbon University, and has PhD in Technology Assessment (2023) in Nova University Lisbon and is a junior researcher of CICS.NOVA. She is also member of the Board of the Observatory of Technology Assessment since 2023, member of the management team of European Technology Platform Manufuture since 2020 and Working Group Leader in Advanced Materials 2030 initiative since 2021.

Marta Candeias works in the intersection of technology and public policies. Her main research interests are related to the interdisciplinary fields of Science and Technology Studies, Technology Assessment and Public Policies. She is now working on topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Skills and work organisation. 
She is involved in the research project " INTELIART | Artificial intelligence: Effects on work and employment," 2022-2024, https://sites.fct.unl.pt/inteliart, and is in several proposals in evaluation.

In the last 14 years, she has followed national and European policies to support research and innovation as well as European research and innovation funding programs (Horizon Europe, H2020 and FP7) assuring Portuguese representation in the European Commission for the framework program for research and innovation funding for 11 years and have a strong knowledge of Portuguese community and European stakeholders in manufacturing, materials, and industrial processes. 

She has coordinated several working groups and projects:
- coordination of the Portuguese Research and Innovation Agenda for Industry and Manufacturing (2016-2017)
- support in the definition of the Portuguese Strategy for Artificial Intelligence (2017 - 2018)
- European projects: 
- ACCESS4SMEs (H2020, 2016 - 2019), Access to Risk Finance and SMEs NCP cooperation network
- NMPTeam 3 (H2020, 2015-2017), Improving the services of the NMP NCP Network through Trans-national Activities 2
- NMPTeam 2 (FP7, 2012-2014), Improving the services of the NMP NCP Network through Trans-national Activities 2
- NMPTeam (FP7, 2010-2011), Improving the services of the NMP NCP Network through Trans-national Activities
- TransCoSME (FP7, 2009 - 2012) Transnational Cooperation of the European Network of NCP SME
- SMESGoHealth (FP7, 2009-2011) strategies to facilitate the collaboration between SMEs and Academia in the Health area;

She has also been an evaluator for ERA-NET projects (Manufacturing, Materials), EIT Manufacturing (Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence) and Innovation structures (research and innovation ecosystem Portuguese calls). 

She is familiar with business development advice and coaching derived from research and innovation activities for which she has reviewed several proposals from the manufacturing and processing area.
