Emerited Professor of Sociology at the Nova School of Sciences and Technology (NOVA FCT), with habilitation for Full Professorship since 2001. Was coordinator of the PhD Programme on "Technology Assessment" (UNL) from 2009 unti 2023. Was also Invited Researcher of the Institute of Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis at the  Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and coordinator of IET - CICS.NOVA unit at FCT-UNL on Innovation and Technology Studies since 2002 (from 2002 until 2012 it was only IET, from 2012 until 2014 it was integrated at CESNOVA, and from then joined with other centres to form the CICS.NOVA centre). Is Director of the Observatory of Technology Assessment.
