Biography
Sílvia Sequeira is currently a PhD student at the Department of Conservation and Restoration from NOVA University of Lisbon, where she studies conservation treatments for paper biodeteriorated by fungi. She is graduated in Conservation and Restoration by NOVA University of Lisbon with a pre-Bologna degree (1999-2004), where she developed a final year dissertation about the deacidification of paper with Ca(OH)2 nanoparticles. From 2005 to 2011 she worked as a conservator in Tropical Research Institute (IICT) where she carried out several tasks, such as environmental conditions control, disaster planning and recovery, conservation and restoration treatments, preparation of exhibitions, cleaning, mounting and housing of collections, pests control, and also scientific research on conservation. Since 2005 she has also been a supervisor of research projects and master thesis in the paper conservation area and an assistant teacher in the Conservation and Restoration Courses (BA and MA levels) at NOVA University of Lisbon.
