Mila Crippa

Biography

Mila Crippa is a PhD student in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage – Specialisation in Conservation Science – at the NOVA School of Science and Technology and Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV). In 2018 she obtained a Master's degree in Techniques for Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage from the University of Genoa, Italy. Prior to joining NOVA University, Mila gained experience as a heritage scientist in an art research institute, the KIK-IRPA in Brussels (BE), and the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge (UK) where she investigated the colour materials and techniques applied in paintings and illuminated manuscripts with infrared imaging, FORS, XRF, scanning macro-XRF and Raman spectroscopy.

Mila’s research interests lie in the fields of Heritage Science and History of Technology and currently, she is interested in the identification and characterisation of organic reds.
