Biography

Márcia Vieira holds a Bachelor’s degree in Conservation and Restoration (2016) and a Master’s degree in Conservation and Restoration with specialisation in Conservation Science (2018), both from the Nova School of Science and Technology (DCR/FCT-UNL). Her Master’s thesis was entitled “Vermelhos orgânicos e inorgânicos em Al-Andalus: Caracterização de manuscritos medievais islâmicos” supervised by Professor Maria João Melo and Dr. Paula Nabais.

In 2019, she won a Research Grant in the project STEMMA for the study of the colourants found in the Ajuda Songbook. In the same year, she was awarded a grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) to carry out a PhD project in Conservation Science for the study of Iberian Medieval illuminated manuscripts. The research has been made in collaboration with Professor Laura Fernandez from the University Complutense of Madrid and Dr Federica Pozzi from the Center for Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage "La Venaria Reale".
