Ekaterina Pasnak

Biography

Ekaterina Pasnak holds a Master degree in Art History from Moscow State University (1993). After immigrating to Canada she undertook internships in object and paper conservation in Vancouver, taking additional courses in inorganic and organic chemistry and museology from the University of British Columbia. She graduated from Queen’s University with the degree of Master of Art Conservation (2003) with specialization in works of art on paper. In 2007 she moved to Norway where she worked as a paper conservator in Bergen Art Museums (KODE, 2007-2015). There, a method for the reduction of yellow discolourations and foxing spots was developed using buffers, chelating agents, reducing bleaches and rigid gels. From 2016 she has worked as a conservator in the Special Collections at the University Library of Bergen. Presently she is on educational leave in order to study the Norwegian Sea Archive from the Special Collections and find solutions for its preservation.
