Ana Irizar

Biography

Ana Irizar has a BSc in Physics from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Her thesis work helped define the protocol for man-made glass characterization in the laboratory LANCIC in the Physics Institute of her home university. She continued her studies with an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master on Archeological Material Sciences and she received a double degree from Universidade de Évora (Portugal) and from Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy). Her thesis project on Roman blue glass from the 1st to 5th century, from the Palatine Hill, Rome, is now published. Throughout this time, she participated in organizing science communication events and in teaching activities. Currently she is full time dedicated to the study of Islamic glass, glass-making techniques and the relation between the east and west of the Mediterranean during the early Islamic period.
