Jhon Alexander Rodríguez Buitrago

Post-Doctoral Fellow

Jhon Buitrago is a highly skilled researcher specializing in structural biology methods. He is Doctor of Natural Sciences from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany, with a dissertation focused on the structural characterization of a three-component P450 system from Thermobifida fusca. He is Master of Science in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from the University of Basque Country, and Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Santander, Spain. Buitrago was Postdoctoral Researcher at Umeå University/Karolinska Institute, where he studied the role of growth factors, specifically Transforming Growth Factor β (TGF-β), in cancer progression. Buitrago has made significant contributions to projects including protein expression and purification, compound and fragment screening, co-crystallization, and mentoring of students. Buitrago is dedicated to advancing structural biology techniques and their application. He is also interested in the structural characterization of biological macromolecules for drug discovery.
