Access the CryoEM-PT node at UCIBIO-NOVA FCT

CryoEM@NOVA HE project is establishing the cryoEM workflow and a cryoEM-based research program at UCIBIO-NOVA FCT that includes sample preparation and data processing infrastructures, with cryoEM data collection at INL (Braga, Portugal), the central node of the CryoEM-PT Consortium(*). INL hosts the latest-generation 200 kV Glacios autoloader cryo electron microscope with a direct electron detector.

The node is currently equiped with a glow-discharger (to increase the hydrophilicity of the carbon-coated grids' surface) and a vitrification robot for sample vitrification. These equipments are operating in a humidity-controlled room. Once vitrified, sample grids are clipped and stored in liquid nitrogen.

Grids are transported in dry shippers for off-site data collection (INL and/or other European cryoEM facilities).

A data processing infrastructure is also available. The cluster feature a 4GPUs, 5x 22TBRAID-5 storage, cryoEM software packages (Relion, CryoSparc, SCIPION and other) installed for data processing.

Let us know if you are interested in accessing the NOVA FCT's CryoEM-PT node. Our evaluation is primarily based on scientific merit and technical feasibility of the proposed projects. The services and resources are available to all scientific, academic and industry communities. Fees for access to services and for consumables will be defined and published. Maintenance costs are included in the user fees.
