Dr. Basu is a curious researcher who earned his Ph.D. in 2023 from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, where his work focused on developing antimicrobial strategies to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in MRSA and its biofilm. He further advanced his research through postdoctoral fellowship at IIT Hyderabad, concentrating on the development of 3D disease models, hydrogels, and drug delivery systems for a range of biomedical applications. His technical proficiency includes electron microscopy (EM), live cell imaging, and mammalian cell culture-based in vitro 3D model development for various diseases.
Dr. Basu has authored more than 11 peer-reviewed research publications and is part of 3 Indian patents in areas spanning microbiology, drug delivery, and cancer therapeutics. His primary research interests lie in antimicrobial resistance mitigation and the use of EM technology for volume imaging of various pathogens. A recipient of several prestigious national and international fellowships, including those from MHRD-India for pursuing PhD and MSCA PF SoE 2025. Before joining NOVA-FCT, he has worked as an Assistant Professor at Woxsen University, Hyderabad (India) where he has taught various courses to BSc Biotechnology UG students.
