Research

Research in Biomaterials Lab is dedicated to the study and development of new materials for biomedical applications. Currently, three Research fields are currently highly active:

All the work related to these R&D fields is assured by Post Doc Researchers, Ph.D., and MSc students under the supervision or co-supervision of Prof. Dr. João Paulo Borges.

The Biomaterials lab works in collaboration with the colleagues from SBMG, as well as other members of i3N|CENIMAT, namely with colleagues from i3N Aveiro (Dr. Manuel Valente and Dr. Manuel Graça).
From Master and PhD thesis, we also have collaborations with colleagues from other research labs: Dr. Paula Videira from UCIBIO, Dr. Vera Neves from IMM/UL and Dr. Henrique Armés from Hospital Veterinário de São Bento. International collaborations include Dr. Sebastien Blanquer fromInstitut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier, Université de Montpellier in France, and Dr. Miguel Castilho from UMCU in The Netherlands.
We also have several collaborations with Industry that resulted in joint projects (see Funding): CERAMED, Medbone, ALTAKITIN and PRIREV.
