Gonçalo Teixeira is a PhD Student in Bioengineering Systems from the MIT Portugal PhD program, FCT NOVA. Currently, he is working in engineered proteins for gas sensing, namely odorant-binding proteins from mammalians and invertebrates.
Gonçalo arrived in the Biomolecular Engineering Lab in 2016 to complete his master thesis in Biotechnology from FCT-NOVA. During this period he studied the chemical and biological synthesis of an engineered affinity protein and had the opportunity to work in the University of Marseille for 2 months. He then worked in the SCENT project as a Research Assistant from January to March 2018, before starting his PhD fellowship. Gonçalo holds a Bachelor Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra and a Masters in Biotechnology from FCT-NOVA. As a student, he was involved in both associative and sports activities. He is currently in the National Biochemists Association.
