Welcome to the team, Sabrina

Sabrina arrived this week and is staying in our lab until March 2020. She is Brazilian, born in São Paulo, and is beginning the 3rd year of her bachelor degree in Pharmacy – Biochemistry in USP. She will be working closely with Manuel Matos on the production of novel affinity adsorbents towards antibodies. Antibodies and related fragments are important tools in biotechnology context due to their potential as therapeutic and imaging agents. The need for the development of cost-effective affinity adsorbents that retain selectivity towards antibodies is high. During her stay, Sabrina will enhance upstream and downstream processing of novel ligands discovered from combinatorial libraries.

When asked about the objective of her stay, she said “My goal is to develop my personal skills by facing new challenges and exchanging knowledge.” We are welcoming Sabrina, wishing that she achieves her personal goals and hoping that she has a fruitful stay.

She really loves animals, especially dogs. She also enjoys romance books and thriller movies. Breaking Bad is her favourite TV series. She loves helping people and she has always dreamt of being a scientist since she was a child. We hope that this experience is the open door for her to follow this dream.
