Prof. Cícero Cena arrived last week and is staying with us for one month. He is graduated in Physics and holds a PhD in Materials Science, he is an Associated Professor at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS).

Prof. Cena came to our lab thanks to a program from the European Research Council Visit, the ERC grantee' Fellowship Programme 2018, with funding from FUNDECT (Brazil) and the ERC funded SCENT project.

We already had the pleasure to hear about the amazing work his group develops on a talk last Friday. After getting so inspired by his talk and by the amazing fibers we can get using the blowspinning method, we hope this collaboration works out pretty well and that both sides learn with it as much as possible.

Besides working, he likes running and he has two lovely dogs (Perovskita and Strelka), who also encourage some of his research fields. His favourite movie is Lord of the Rings: The return of the King and his favourite books are The Prince, from Machiavelli, and The Little Prince, from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

When asked about his perfect day, he said that happens when a paper or a proposal is accepted. We would like to give him a warm welcome and wish him an enjoyable stay in Portugal! We also hope to contribute for a perfect day with a joint paper!
