MARlab @ Encontro com Ciência

On March 29th, MARLab coordinator Marta Martins participated in the round table "Sustainability, quo vadis?" as part of the event "Encontro com Ciência – A Terra no Universo e nós na Terra", held in Paredes de Coura. The role of sustainability was discussed, highlighting the importance of preserving ecological balance in the face of global environmental challenges.

EPPS2025 registration open

We are excited to invite you to the European Plant Phenomics Symposium 2025 (EPPS2025) in Bonn, Germany, from 16th - 19th of September, 2025.

Cytocompatibility, fibroblast adhesion and proliferation on surface modified 3D-printed PEEK scaffolds

Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is a high-performance thermoplastic that, when combined with Additive Manufacturing (AM), presents considerable advantages in producing customizable implantable medical devices.

Check for Blooming

If you have observed blooming in coated fabric objects or the same damage under a different name.

We would love to hear from you!

Doxorubicin-sensitive and -resistant colorectal cancer spheroid models: assessing tumor microenvironment features for therapeutic modulation

We developed three-dimensional cancer models that mimic the interactions in the TME and the tumor structure and complexity is of great relevance to cancer research and drug development.

Shrinking Cancer Research Barriers: Crafting Accessible Tumor-on-Chip

A simple method for developing ToC devices in under 10 minutes, using thermo-sensitive polystyrene sheets – “Shrinky-dinks”. The process only involves pattern engraving, layer bonding, and heat shrink to the final size.

Mild hyperthermia via gold nanoparticles and visible light irradiation for enhanced siRNA and ASO delivery in 2D and 3D tumour spheroids

Novel transfection approach for gene therapy applications in 2D and 3D tumor models based on the use of mild photothermy mediated by AuNPs combined with visible laser irradiation that might pave the way for the spatial-temporal control of gene modulation - PAPER

Membrane-localized magnetic hyperthermia promotes intracellular delivery

We use membrane-localized magnetic hyperthermia to promote the internalization of cell-impermeant probes.

Nanoparticles for gene silecinging in 2D cell culture vs. 3D tumor spheroid

Transitioning from 2D to 3D models demands an understanding of altered internalization mechanisms and microenvironmental influences.

ARMS-HRMA for KRAS mutation detection in clinical samples

Liquid biopsies, and particularly the analysis of circulating tumor DNA, are emerging as an interesting means for diagnosis, prognosis, and predictive biomarker discovery.
