Luca Martinelli received his Ph.D. degree in Seismic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, and holds a M.Sc degree in Structural Engineering also from politecnico di Milano.

Luca’s scientific interests and research activities are related to the mechanical behaviour of cables and ropes, dynamic behaviour and structural control of structures, earthquake engineering, Structural Health Monitoring and seismic assessment of structures, hysteretic behaviour of structural members at a macro and micro scale level.

He is currently Associate Professor of Strength of Materials/Structural Mechanics at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering DICA of Politecnico di Milano, where he teaches “Structural Mechanics” at the Bachelor of Science Program for the Degree in Architecture and “Earthquake Resistant Design” at the Master of Science Program for the Degree in Civil Engineering.
