Jorge de Brito has been involved in sustainable concrete research for around 20 years, particularly recycled aggregates. He graduated in Civil Engineering and obtained a Master's in Structural Engineering and a Doctorate in Civil Engineering, all at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, Portugal, where he is now a Full Professor of Civil Engineering.

He has over 600 publications in peer-review ISI scientific journals, including 11 books as an author. He has supervised the works of over 50 Ph.D. students and 190 MSc students.
