Duarte Viúla Faria has obtained his diploma in Civil Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal) in 2000. He then worked in the conception, analysis, design and construction of structures, before performing his doctoral studies at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, obtaining his PhD in 2011. He then stayed as an invited professor in this same university, and in 2013, he joined École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland) as post-doctoral fellow until 2014. Since 2014 he has continued to develop a professional career as a senior engineer and since 2023 as a partner of a consulting company specialized in structural design.
