Sara Babo completed her Master in Conservation and Restoration (2009) at the Department of Conservation and Restoration (Universidade NOVA de Lisboa), with a dissertation on the conservation of two assemblages by the Portuguese artist Lourdes Castro. In 2010, she was a fellow from Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian and Fundação Luso-Americana para o Desenvolvimento at the Smithsonian´s Museum Conservation Institute, where she researched on dry cleaning methods for acrylic emulsion paints and plastic objects. Sara Babo is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, studying poly(methyl methacrylate) manufacturing, ageing behaviour, and its preservation. She is a member of the research projects O Triunfo da Baquelite - Contributos para uma História dos Plásticos em Portugal, and one of the founders of DCR's first spin-off, NEON Art Conservation Lda., founded in 2018, which aims to offer conservation and restoration services for 20th and 21st centuries cultural heritage.
