Ana Maria Ramos began her career as an engineer at Companhia Nacional de Petroquímica, Polymers Division (1980-1984), followed by the integration at FCT NOVA, for teaching and researching Polymer Science and Chemical Reaction Engineering. She completed her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (1993) from the same university, where she is now Associate Professor. She has an active collaboration with the Department of Conservation and Restoration, where she teaches part of the course Polymers in Conservation, and supervises MSc and PhD students. In this field, her interests are related to the behaviour of polymers applied to cultural heritage, and mainly to contemporary art and photography. Ana Maria Ramos has been involved in research projects studying the correlation between polymer’s ageing phenomena and structure, polymerisation mechanism and industrial production or processing method. This knowledge is achieved by the relationships established between the polymer´s behaviour at molecular/chemical/structural and physical levels. She has more than one hundred indexed publications and two hundred communications to international conferences. |
