nês Soares holds a BSc (2015) and an MSc (2018) in Conservation and Restoration from the Department of Conservation and Restoration (DCR), Faculty of Science and Technology (NOVA University of Lisbon). Her master thesis brought insights to the history of the Portuguese plastics industry through an interdisciplinary approach: the project aimed at complementing documentary research, historical-technical surveys of archives and collections, with the characterisation of plastic objects by in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform (DRIFT) spectroscopy. Inês Soares was a member of the research project O Triunfo da Baquelite - Contributos para uma História dos Plásticos em Portugal.
Inês was a research assistant for the PlasCO2 project between September 2019 and February 2020 and has been recently awarded a PhD grant to study the application of flame-retardant coatings as a preventive measure for the protection of cultural heritage in museum environments.
