Joana Tomás Ferreira


Joana Tomás Ferreira recently completed her MSc in Conservation and Restoration from the Department of Conservation and Restoration (DCR) of NOVA School of Science & Technology (Lisbon, PT). Her Master thesis was integrated in the PlasCO2 project and focused on the study of a pair of highly degraded foam-based goalkeeper gloves belonging to Museu Benfica - Cosme Damião (Lisbon, PT). The work presents an insight into the materiality and significance of this case study, alongside conservation strategies for this type of foam and a pilot study on the application of supercritical carbon dioxide as an alternative consolidation treatment for foams. 

Joana was then a research assistant for the PlasCO2 project between September 2020 and September 2021 and has been recently awarded a PhD grant to study
Her main interests are related to the documentation and preservation of modern and contemporary polymeric materials and research of conservation treatments.
