The MineHeritage Consortium met for the Kick-Off Meeting of the project in Lisbon Portugal. Twenty-five delegates from the 13 partners gathered at FCT NOVA on the 19^th and 20^th of February to discuss the project workplan for the manifold activities of MineHeritage.

After the welcome address, each partner presented its Institution’s possible contributions to the project. The social dinner at the end of the first day allowed for a healthy discussion to strengthen and expand the internal network of project participants generating new ideas and concepts.

The second day of the meeting was dedicated to a technical guided tour of the Lousal mine by Álvaro Pinto, in the Alentejo region of Portugal (Grândula) with a visit to its museum and “Centro Ciência Viva” dedicated to the history of the Lousal mine and the Waldemar Mining gallery.
