Bioorganic Chemistry is an emerging area in the interface between biology, biochemistry, biotechnology and chemistry.

The Master in Bioorganic Chemistry arises in a response to the need for training new human resources in for the Portuguese and European societies, due to the recent development of companies linked to areas of fine chemicals, biotechnology and pharmaceutical.

It is a unique opportunity to acquire skills in analysis, characterization and intelligent development of new drugs and biomaterials, rationalization of drug interaction with biological systems, and design of new materials and more efficient and sustainable synthetic methodologies.

Students will have an interdisciplinary background, particularly in the following areas:

  • Organic synthesis of bioactive compounds;
  • Medicinal Chemistry;
  • Computational Chemistry;
  • Forensic Chemistry;
  • Supramolecular Chemistry and Nanochemistry;
  • Radical Chemistry;
  • Chemical Catalysis;
  • Structural Analysis and analytical techniques.
