Curricular Plan

The curriculum of the first year of the course (60 ECTS) is divided into compulsory (C) and optional courses (Op). During the second year, students have the opportunity to develop a Dissertation (60 ECTS). The major areas addressed in the 1st and 2nd year of the course are: 

  • Molecular Biotechnology and Nanobiotechnology: 'omics' technologies (eg genomics, proteomics, metabolomics), expression and genetic analysis, synthetic biology, biomaterials and tissue engineering, biosensors and nanobiotechnology.
  • Industrial Biotechnology: (bio)pharmaceutical, environmental or food industries, biocatalysis, bioprocess monitoring and development, production and purification of biological products, clean technologies.
  • Bioentrepreneurship and Technology Transfer: entrepreneurship, intellectual property protection, bio-based economy "

Teaching Language: Portuguese. In the presence of students not fluent in Portuguese, the English language will be used. Material courses are supplied in English.
