Welcome Nourhaen and Antonia!

We are delighted to welcome our two new interns: Nourhaen Rebai and Antonia Kellner!

Nourhaen is a PhD student from the University of Sfax, Tunisia, and she is working on the quantification and the identification of microplastics on marine organisms in Tunisian coasts. Here's what she has to say: "The Department of Environmental Science and Engineering of FCT NOVA and the team of Prof. Paula Sobral's laboratory, specialized in the assessment of marine litter and Microplastics, welcomed me for an internship on the methodologies of quantification and characterization of microplastics, which provides me an excellent opportunity to acquire the knowledge necessary for a future career in Microplastics research. I have the chance to be surrounded by a team of experts."

Antonia has a recently completed her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology at the University of Basel in Switzerland, and will be at MARlab for an internship of three months: "I work in the different projects of the research group about the occurrence, dispersion and impacts of microplastics to learn and practice more methods and techniques. Therefore, I would like to gain experience and get to know the research field, out of great interest to decide for a master’s program in these research fields.".

We hope you enjoy your stay in Portugal and learn a lot with us at MARlab!

Welcome!
